The world whizzes by in a blur! Just look at how we zip around the sun – it's a miracle we're not flung into space! Imagine trying to stand on a spinning disc at 20 km/h - talk about a balancing act!
But hey, let's shift gears. In a world full of constant noise, our poor brains hardly get a chance to unwind. Every little thing demands our focus, and we feel this urge to always be doing something. Well, at least I used to feel that way, but now I'm more of a chill vibe kind of person. Or doing my best.
Sometimes I wish I was a little better at the art of doing nothing. Just… nothing. And in Jardin (Colombia) I found the perfect place to learn that art.
Jardin, a hidden gem (aka not touristy) where time stood still. In a non-touristy spot, you'd think it's a snooze fest. Well, you're not entirely wrong. Here, chilling out is practically an Olympic event.
Picture this: folks mastering the art of balancing on two chair legs. It's like a talent show for the super chill residents.
Imagine the scene: wise Jardinese locals lounging on wooden stools, some with feet planted, others rocking the "feet up" style. Besides sipping on coffee or beer, their main activity is... well, nothing! Wicked!
The relaxed atmosphere and the friendliness of the locals is something that I remember about Jardin.
In all my globetrotting adventures, there's always that one spot you wish had a "stay forever" button. In Colombia, that spot is Jardin - the ultimate chill zone with endless activities to boot, if you're up for it. Hey, why not hop on the 'cable car' for a laugh? Trust me, it's as literal as it gets!
But hey, even if you just wanna plop down at the market and people-watch for a while, boredom? Not on the menu, my friend.
Moreover, you can enjoy excellent and cheap (vegan) food. And drinking coffee, which grows around the corner here. Locals love nothing here more than drinking coffee all day long. Or beer.
But you can also look for the Andean cock-of-the-rock bird. They strut their stuff around here in the AM and PM, trying to impress the lady birds. No need to change your outfit as a woman, they're just showing off for the feathered females!
And there is a church. Of course.
But the real gem of Jardin? Embracing the art of doing absolutely nothing!
Gewoon even lekker… niets.
Of bier.
